The free plan is the full planner for two projects, not a trial version. Here’s what you get without paying anything:

Unlimited milestones and tasks
Break each project into as many milestones as it needs, and each milestone into as many tasks. Progress fills in as you finish them.

iCloud sync on all your devices
Your projects sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud account. There’s no Milestones account and no server of ours in between.

Today, Upcoming and Inbox
See what’s due today across every project, what’s coming up next, and the tasks you haven’t filed anywhere yet.

Tags and priorities
Tag tasks across projects and give them a priority of one to three exclamation marks, so the important ones stand out in every list.

Dates in plain words
Type a date the way you’d say it, like “tomorrow at 5pm”, and Milestones sets it while you add the task.

The Apple Watch app
Add tasks, start them and check them off from your wrist. The watch app is free on every plan.

Siri and Shortcuts
Add a task, check one off or hear what’s due today with Siri, or use the same actions in your own Shortcuts.

Keyboard shortcuts and ⌘K
On the Mac, every command has a shortcut you can change, ⌘K jumps to any project, and Quick Entry adds a task from any app.

The archive
Finished projects keep their full history in the archive, and archived projects don’t count toward the limit.
How the two-project limit works
The free plan counts active projects. You can have two at a time, and each one can hold as many milestones and tasks as you like.
When a project is done, archive it. It keeps its history, you can open it whenever you want, and it no longer counts, so the next project has room.
Creating a third active project, or bringing a third one back from the archive, is where Pro starts.

Questions about the free plan
- Is Milestones really free?
- Yes, for two active projects at a time, with no time limit and no account. Each project can have unlimited milestones and tasks, and your projects sync between your devices through iCloud.
- Does the free plan expire?
- No. The free plan isn’t a trial, so you can stay on it for as long as you like. Pro is there if you ever need more than two projects at once.
- What counts toward the two-project limit?
- Only active projects. Archived projects don’t count, so you can archive a finished project and start the next one without paying.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There’s no Milestones account. Your projects live on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud account.
- Is Milestones free on the Mac?
- Yes. Milestones is a native Mac app with the same free plan as on iPhone and iPad, and your projects sync between them through iCloud. It needs macOS 15 or later.
- Is Milestones on Setapp?
- Yes. The Mac app is part of a Setapp membership, and Setapp also offers Milestones on its own from US$4.99 a month. That’s Setapp’s own price; Pro on the App Store is US$5.99 a month, US$29.99 a year, or US$79.99 once.
